LIMS Administrator

Sera Prognostics, Inc., a women’s health care company, is seeking a highly successful LIMS Administrator to maintain and enhance current configuration, supporting our CAP/NYC Accredited LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) for our company located in Salt Lake City.


  • Work with laboratory and other company personnel to plan, design, implement, manage and provide ongoing support to optimize LIMS functions and related applications
  • Oversee and direct operation of the LIMS system in the laboratory and all existing computer applications that interface and interact with the LIMS system
  • Ensure that the LIMS system is correctly used by the laboratory personnel, including developing relevant training materials as needed
  • Provide LIMS training to new and current employees as needed
  • Develop and execute verification or validation testing plans for LIMS upgrades or changes
  • Assist QA in obtaining and charting data trends and analyzing data from the LIMS as needed
  • Write SOP’s and policies for laboratory computer and LIMS applications
  • Maintain qualifications and expertise through continuing education
  • Problem solve and develop innovative solutions and workarounds for core LIMS functionality limitations to meet laboratory, business, quality, and regulatory needs
  • Develop and execute verification and validation plans for LIMS extensions and new software purchased or developed internally that will interact with the LIMS
  • Develop requirements and specifications for Software Change Requests for development of a Statement of Work from software vendor
  • Train and mentor other LIMS specialists as needed
  • Work independently with minimal supervision


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college or university with experience administering LIMS/LIS, especially Thermo Scientific Nautilus LIMS in a clinical laboratory environment
  • Alternatively, a clinical laboratory science qualification with 2-3 years’ practical experience managing LIMS in a reference laboratory setting
  • Basic knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and NY laboratory regulations and Clinical Laboratory QA/QC procedures
